ABOUT GLENN GROVES
THIRTY YEARS. ONE GUITAR. A LOT OF MILES.
Glenn Groves has spent thirty years doing this the old-fashioned way — one guitar, one room, one audience at a time.
Since playing his first gig in September of 1996, Glenn has built a career around a pretty simple idea: show up, play the songs you believe in, treat people well, and make sure everybody has a good time.
A lifelong fan of country music and the great troubadours who came before him, Glenn has never been particularly interested in chasing trends. His shows are built around songs people know, stories worth telling, and the kind of connection that can only happen when there’s nothing between a performer and the people sitting in front of him.
Over the years, that approach has taken him into pubs, clubs, patios, campgrounds, private parties and stages across Ontario — sometimes for a room full of strangers, and sometimes for familiar faces who have been coming back for years.
And those people have become a big part of the story.
What started as a guy with a guitar has grown into a community Glenn affectionately calls GG Nation — friends, regulars, fellow musicians and supporters who have shared a lot of songs, laughs and miles along the way. That community has also helped turn the music into something bigger, raising more than $60,000 for Halton Women’s Place through the annual GG Nation Cares fundraiser.
Thirty years in, Glenn is still happiest doing exactly what started all of this:
A guitar in his hands. A good song to sing. And a room full of people to share it with.
